Official API, web search on.
We measure Perplexity through its Agent API with the quick-answer preset (fast) and web search on. On this endpoint the answer is written by a model Perplexity chooses while search and source selection are Perplexity's; the answering model is recorded with each answer. Sources come from citations and search results.
The API answer may not match exactly what you see in the Perplexity app: the app works with chat history, account settings and its own interface choices. Read the trend over periods, not a single answer.
- No consumer interface is scraped; measurement uses the provider's official API.
- The query is asked as is; no system message is added to steer the answer.
- Each query is asked in your brand's language; platforms that support it also get your brand's country.
- The same query isn't asked on the same engine again within 24 hours.
